How are bosses leading culture shifts that recognize and appreciate differences?

“Be your authentic self”—common advice we often hear in the workplace. It’s a beautiful idea, but we want to call out this idealistic notion of what it means to show up as your whole self. There can be serious, real-world realities and consequences to showing up as your authentic self. Realities that force people to code-switch, downplay their multi-dimensional identity, hide accents, change patterns of speech, arrive five minutes before a meeting to be considered “on time,” dress a certain way—all for the purpose of “fitting in.” But we ask: How are we defining what it means to fit in and who is defining it?

From small talk in the office to performance reviews to recruiting practices, what are bosses doing to break down hegemonic and often punishing work cultures and instead designing truly inclusive environments where people can actually be authentic?

Join us on April 27 to hear from some of the biggest bosses around who will share their insights and experiences with us to help navigate these workplace norms.
