There are only a handful of companies where someone could realistically start a career making video games here. That means that MSP’s top talent flees to the coasts and other game hubs around the country. The negative impact of this doesn’t just affect the game development community—the overall tech industry and entrepreneur community gets hit too. The need to invest in growing MSP’s community of game makers has never been more critical as we strive to attract talented professionals and put Minnesota on the map as a tech and gaming hub.

Rally Cry | Video Games will feature an expert panel’s analysis of the state of the video game community and a town hall discussion. Our goal is to leave this event full of passion, energy, and—most importantly—tangible ideas for how to make MSP’s game makers thrive.

This event is about more than just inspiration. Come ready to discuss real action for how to build the community you want.

Make It. MSP. is an initiative to make MSP the best place to live, work, and play in the country. Whatever you do, you can Make It in MSP. Make an impact, make a future, make a name. We make it our business to make history. To live here is to live life in the making and to be bold enough to make life whatever you want.

GLITCH is a nonprofit organization based at the UofMN that promotes the exploration of video games as a culture, career, and creative practice. GLITCH does this through student development and focuses on offering opportunities to not only play video games but also explore the creative process behind making them.

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) is the largest non-profit membership organization in the world serving all individuals who create games. The Twin Cities chapter (IGDATC) meets monthly, and new visitors are always welcome.

Kate O’Reilly of Clever Kate is a writer, content strategist, public speaker, and rogue optimist known for making things happen. She’s also a generous supporter of the gaming community (and tech & entrepreneur communities) and made scholarship tickets available to a handful of attendees.
