Our Circles curriculum was originally developed by SHIFT founder Jan Hively, and was created specifically for people in the midst of midlife transition, i.e. those who want to dig deeper and do some intentional lifework planning.
This 3-session course will challenge you to tackle the following areas:
- Change/Transition. What is going on for you and why?
- Personal Skills/Strengths. Use and build upon your unique value.
- Challenge/Barriers. What’s getting in your way to make positive change?
- Opportunities/Purpose. Match your skills and interest with your meaningful life-direction.
- Action Planning. How will you get there from here?
Why you belong in SHIFT Circles…
What is the first thing Circle participants have in common? Most are in some sort of life transition—changing jobs, losing a loved one, downsizing a living situation, searching for activities that bring new meaning to life. The transition at midlife can be especially crucial. It’s a time of contraction and expansion. A time when the developmental task is to let go of a particular self-image (outer world) and hear the deeper promptings of the spirit (inner world). It’s often about releasing one’s identify and embracing a new one. Circles provides an environment and a structure for navigating through your personal transitions within a community of support and encouragement.
How does Circle’s Work?
SHIFT Circles are a three-session series of small-group life/work discussion and planning. Each 2-hour session is led by one or two experienced facilitators. In a setting of acceptance and support, you’ll explore your strengths and challenges, connect with others, and create a future vision that includes initial action steps.
