Pollen: Where do you find creative inspiration?
Lisa: Everywhere. Input and learner are key strengths. I’m curious and take in everything. And then I start making connections. It’s the ability to connect — to cross-pollinate — ideas across industries, communities and brands that leads to fresh insights and game-changing ideas.
Pollen: What are some of the biggest challenges in being a small business owner?
Lisa: The single biggest challenge I work on daily is focus. Learning to balance working on the business and in the business is continuous opportunity. I also need to manage consciously caring for my health and well-being every day. It’s the foundation to a good life and good business.
Pollen: What do you think is the secret to connecting across differences?
Lisa: Curiosity and openness. Stay out of judgment. Be an observer.
I try to approach every opportunity through a lens of “Isn’t that interesting?” And “I wonder why?”
Pollen: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Lisa: Two things: There is so much new to learn every day. And companies of all shapes and sizes are becoming more connected to leading from a foundation of purpose and values. Strategic communication is a powerful tool to help move brands forward. There’s never been a more promising or rewarding time to be in our business.
