The Loft in Minneapolis is looking for a diverse pool of writers to teach creative writing enrichment education classes for adult learners across genres – fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, publishing/career, writing for children and young adults, writing for the web, creative process, and more. Classes are not academic in nature and are steeped in enrichment, creativity, writing craft, and the pleasure of learning. All perspectives welcome; racial, gender, sexual orientation, ability/disability, and neuro- diversity are all important to the Loft, and we encourage those across all identities to submit class proposals. You are welcome here. Class proposals are now being accepted through March, 7, 2023 for the Loft’s summer term, 2023. We’ll offer a small number of classes in-person at Open Book in downtown Minneapolis, while continuing to offer online classes (either via Zoom, with live meetings supplemented with Google Classroom, OR asynchronously using WetInk) June/July/August, 2023. Loft teaching artists must have a reliable and high speed connection to the internet and a computer, as well as basic knowledge of computer use, Zoom and Google Classroom, or WetInk. Our proposal form has details on what we’re looking for in terms of content. Please visit loft.org/about/workwithus for more info. You may also contact the Loft’s program director in education Jennifer Dodgson at jdodgson@loft.org with questions. The Loft is committed to racial equity, anti-racism, and gender, LGBTQ, ability/disability, and neurodivergent equity across all programming. Hiring and compensation is on a per class, contract basis. Classes can be brief single session offerings (typically 3-4 hours), or they can be multi-week offerings (8 weeks, 6 weeks, or 4 weeks, usually 2 hours per week), depending on how long an individual teaching artist would like to teach. Pay range is approximately $49 per teaching hour to over $200 per teaching hour, depending on both number of students/final enrollment and the duration of the class. More information about compensation specifics can be found in the public proposal form and the Loft’s Teacher’s Guide at loft.org, or email the education director at jdodgson@loft.org.
