The Minnesota Humanities Center, CLUES (Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio) and the Chicano & Latino Studies Department of the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts.

10/9/2021

During this cultural education forum, scholars and artists will broaden your awareness and understanding of Días de Muertos (Days of the Dead), as they share and reflect on the history, traditions, and art of this significant commemoration for many Latino, Latina, and Latinx peoples, in particular for Minnesota’s Mexican community.

This educational forum will deepen and enhance the following learning outcomes:

  • Learn about the spiritual symbolism and traditions of Días de Muertos.
  • See the connections between identity, belonging, and the practice of cultural rituals and traditions.
  • Understand the diversity of various histories, cultures, and experiences around Días de Muertos.
  • Learn how these traditions allow families and communities to honor ancestors and celebrate life.
  • The Minnesota Humanities Center cultural education forum

This cultural education forum is being offered in collaboration with the Minnesota Humanities Center,  CLUES (Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio) and the Chicano & Latino Studies Department of the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts.

We encourage you to also register for the October 23 offering Learning from Place: Días de Muertos on Lake Street.
