While penning articles on education for the Star Tribune, Patrice Relerford decided she didn’t just want to write about closing the achievement gap, she wanted to do work to help close it. So began a new path for the reporter—a Master’s degree focused on public administration and nonprofit management, grant writing for Minneapolis shelter People Serving People, and a Ron McKinley Philanthropy Fellowship with The Minneapolis Foundation. Now after six months, the Foundation has hired her under a snappy new title: director of impact strategy – education. Way to forge a new path, Patrice!
