Meet the people behind the lens as we introduce you to the Pollenites to follow on Instagram. With visual footprints that are sure to inspire, these individuals have a knack for capturing everyday moments in a way that make us want to see more.
Local artisan triple-threat, Louisa Podlich is a professional photographer, creates unique ceramics, and curates handmade goods for her online shop, A MANO. It’s no wonder Instagram resonates with the visually-driven artist. “I find that I have a much easier time remembering things I’ve done and places I’ve been if I have a visual clue,” Louisa says.
It doesn’t hurt that those visual clues happen to look like works of art, either. Her Instagram feed, @weshopamano, features A Mano product shots, ceramic pieces she has made, on-the-job photography, and shots of her family. When she looks back at what she has posted, Louisa wants to feel “happy, bright, and familiar.” Here are five of our favorite shots:
1. She makes everyday objects look cool. “[My feed] is equal parts polished, happenstance, and self-indulgent,” says Louisa. Who knew sequins could look so chic?
2. Louisa is a professional photographer and her feed is sprinkled with wedding and portrait shots that make us believe in happily ever after.
3. The littlest members of Louisa’s extended family take center stage. “I have three nieces that I love like crazy, so my favorite photos are probably the ones I’ve posted of them.”
4. She forms and fires covetable ceramic pieces to sell in her online shop (even her “malfunctions” are gorgeous). Follow her and you’ll never miss a sale or a giveaway.
5. Louisa elegantly documents what she tastes at new restaurants — such as this watermelon soup at The Third Bird in Loring Park.
