POSITION OVERVIEW
The program coordinator role is to help manage and develop and to support the agency’s mission. This position is to develop and implement a high quality of domestic and sexual violence. Most of duties include follow-up services, legal advocacy, immigration services, and general family issues the coordinator is expected to seek collaborative partnerships, administrative duties were its needed, oversea compliance with funding requirements, as well as perform other assignment under moderate supervision.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Provide advocacy and coordination services to immigrant and refugee women involved in domestic abuse and sexual situations
Decide with women’s shelters for referrals for victims in emergency situations or connect client to onsite advocate at Brian Coyle Center
Interpret the laws of the legal system to educate victims of their rights
Accompany women to family court hearings and assist them in preparing for other hearings in the judicial system when other legal advocates assistance is needed
Develop a working relationship with prosecutors, police, probation officers, and people in the judiciary system
Strategy and Thought Leadership
Coordinate daily operations for IWAP and the legal clinics at Brian Coyle Center
Develop and implement holistic domestic abuse program for immigrant women from east Africa and legal clinics at the center.
Leads diverse staff/ interns, volunteers in providing high quality programming to immigrant women and residents of Cedar Riverside Neighborhood
Identify and resolve staffing /interns /volunteers’ problems and conflicts
Train and supervise volunteers and interns as needed to support programs and foster community involvement
Will ensure coordination and develop and implement a high quality of domestic and sexual violence
The ideal candidate will be Two years’ experience working in the field of domestic violence preferred
Completion of a 40-hour advocacy training preferred
Experience with developing and accessing resources
Strong computer/technical skills preferred
Ability to work flexible hours; evenings and weekends may be required when needed
Applicants must have working experience and knowledge of East African Immigrant women and speak Somali, Oromo, or other East African language fluently
Create content & curriculum for activities
Make recommendations for program improvements
