The Ordway:

The Ordway is the arts epicenter of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and one of the leading nonprofit performing arts centers in the country. Founded on the belief that performing arts should be wide-ranging and accessible to all, the Ordway is home to a variety of performances that encompass the finest in Broadway musicals, concerts, dance and vocal artists.

Known as the most comfortable place to catch a show in Minnesota, the Ordway includes a magnificent 1,900-seat Music Theater, a state-of-the-art 1,100-seat Concert Hall and spacious lobbies. The Ordway aims to reflect the communities it serves and address barriers to ensure everyone can experience the power of the performing arts.

Position Purpose: The Stage Door Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for employees, performers, patrons, vendors, renters, and contractors. This position will work part-time evenings from 3 – 11 PM. Additional shifts may be available for vacation and or staff call out coverage.

Key Performance Areas:  

• Monitor and review the Ordway’s buildings and grounds to ensure they are safe and secure.
• Project the image of the Ordway through actions and behaviors at the Stage Door and Front Lobby.
• Complete tasks at the Stage Door to ensure efficient and productive daily operations.
• Extinguish any security incidents, and in the event of an elevated security incident, notify higher authorities to ensure the safety of staff and patrons in Ordway facilities.
• The Ordway is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive objectives of the organization and promote a culture of respect.

Other Qualifications:

• Experience with video surveillance systems, (Avilgilon Camera Systems and ACM, time-based location software, (Detex).
• Experience with Digital Visitor Management Systems, (SPLAN).
• Ability to listen to and communicate factual information.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and basic Excel).
• Elementary math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions.
• Ability to observe suspicious behavior, techniques for dealing with public that may put their safety in danger.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards including General Duty Standards, Hazardous Communication Standards, Occupational Noise Exposure, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tag Out, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
• High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred.
• One to two years of building security experience required.
• Reliable transportation required.
