“Warm up to Winter” and life in MN. We can find joy and enjoyment below 32 degrees. Melanin In Motion and the Loppet welcome you to winter.
“Warm up to Winter” and a full life outdoors in Minnesota! Our Friends at The Loppet Foundation and Melanin In Motion are hosting this year’s event at The Trailhead, Theodore Wirth Park.
COVID-19 reminded us that Nature and Outdoors are beneficial and good for our physical and mental health. We cannot let winter stop our forward momentum! We invite BIPOC communities, Northside families, girls, and women to kick off the season from the Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Park in the heart of North Minneapolis.
Join Lynnea Atlas-Ingebretson, Anthony Taylor, and outdoor enthusiasts and their families and coaches for a FREE concert, fire pits, food, fun, and information sessions. Learn all the opportunities to get yourself, your kids, your family, and your friends outdoors and active all winter. All skills and abilities are welcome and encouraged, and all experiences are designed for first-timers to succeed. Scholarships for all future activities are available.
This event will include:
-Dates and Deals (special pricing) to learn and go Snowboarding, Downhill Skiing, Cross-country skiing, Snow Shoeing, Fat Biking, and Tubing/Sled all winter;
-Camps, trips, and social outings;
-Volunteer opportunities to help all season long.
-Opportunities to sign up to learn to coach and support other BIPOC community members.
We will also talk about winter clothing basics, gear fitting, and what you need to know to warm up to winter. Please text 612.875 .7803 with specific questions.
RSVP! Please follow COVID-19 protocols that allow you to feel safe. Masks will be available.
This event is free, and please invite your friends and family.
